Costa del Sol’s rising golf superstar Valentina Albertazzi has rallied once again to capture Second Place in the Ladies’ Division of the Tenth Annual Barbésula Trophy. The 36-hole, scratch stroke play tournament was held at Club de Golf La Cañada, in San Roque, Cadiz, on Saturday and Sunday, the 19th and 20th of January.
Valentina, who is sponsored by Atalaya Golf & Country Club, finished the competition with 155 strokes, only three shots behind the Ladies’ Division winner Mercedes Vega from La Cañada. Third Place went to Julia López of Benahavís Golf. Julia finished with a score of 160.
With a total of 149 strokes (+7), Félix Alberto Sánchez, from La Cañada, took First Place in the Men’s Division. Félix finished the tournament with a commanding five-stroke lead over Sebastian Desoisa, from Alcaidesa Links. Sebastian placed Second with a 36-hole total of 154 strokes. Alex Field, from the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, also finished with 154 shots but was awarded Third Place on the basis of his higher handicap.
The Barbésula Trophy is sanctioned by the Real Federación Andaluza de Golf. Tournament competitors have the opportunity to accumulate points in the Federación’s rankings.
