The event took place last Sunday at Atalaya Old Course in Estepona and featured some of the best amateur players in Spain .
The conditions were perfect for the first round of the tour which was won by José María Cano Romero in the higher category and Jaime Parladé in the lower. Both were awarded trophies and qualified for the final of the tour that will take place at Flamingos Golf on 28th June.
The other ten players to progress to the final were Philip Fisher, Diego Hernández, Jacobo Cestino, Salvador Gil, Simon Waby, Luis Gutiérrez, Fernando José Paunero, Salvatore Piredda, Stefano Marsone and Marcelo Cabrera.
“The competitors played a high level of golf, they completed the course in under five hours which is rare in amateur golf tournaments,” said the manager of Andalucía Golf Select, Francisco Gómez.
After the event, players were joined by the mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, for the award ceremony in which they entered themselves into a competition to win a weekend test drive of a Jaguar XS that was provided by a sponsor.
The next round will take place on 10th May at Río Real Golf Course.
