Raúl Tineo Brea, originally from Sotogrande, comes from a family of greenkeepers, where golf has been a central part of life for generations. Growing up in such an environment, his work as a greenkeeper is more than just a profession—it is a way of life. Raúl’s passion for the sport led him to pursue a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Seville, where he built a strong foundation in the science of maintaining top-quality golf courses.
He then specialized in Turfgrass Management at The Ohio State University, completing a practical internship at the prestigious Los Angeles Country Club, ranked among the top 20 golf courses in the world. This international experience allowed him to gain deep expertise in managing Bentgrass and Bermuda, the same types of turf used on the greens at Atalaya Golf.
After spending a year in Spain as an assistant greenkeeper, Raúl took on a role in Saudi Arabia, where he contributed to the groundbreaking NEOM project at Sindalah Island Golf Club, designed by Trent Jones. This is one of the most innovative developments in the global golf scene, offering Raúl the chance to apply his skills in a unique and challenging environment.
Among his most recent professional achievements, Raúl was responsible for the maintenance and renovation of the Links Course at La Hacienda Alcaidesa, a project renowned for its high standards and quality.
Now, Raúl has taken on the position of Head Greenkeeper at Atalaya Golf, a club known for its strong reputation and clear long-term vision. His primary goal since arriving has been to enhance the condition of the greens, particularly on the Old Course, ensuring that both players and members experience noticeable improvements day by day.
