We started with a golf competition, with an individual Stableford format, organised by Gunnar Ottosson and Ludwig Koller, the Men’s Captain and Handicap Secretary. We were blessed by dry weather conditions, despite the threatening clouds. The competition was won by Pia Christiansen and David Fernandez, each scoring a very commendable 37 points.
Once at the restaurant, we were offered a glass of cava and canapés ably served by our competition organisers. Lovely table decorations provided by our lady members Britt-Marie Turesson, Pirjo Vennamo and Pia Christiansen gave a festive touch. With a fish soup to start, followed by a most deliciously tender bœuf bourguignon and finished with a refreshing fruit sorbet, all felt very contented. Congratulations to Javier and his staff for a fantastic meal and wonderful service.
No Christmas lunch would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus! A few of the members were privileged to sit on Santa’s knee and receive a gift.
The day finally ended with an American auction of a beautifully constructed Christmas Tree made from wire, baubles and lights. It was donated to be auctioned for charity by its creator Willi Werner Wacker. Bids came fast and furious, culminating in Mo and Tony Dove claiming the tree! In the process we raised €560 for charity and the total from the day was €700 which has been donated to APRONA, the charity in Estepona which looks after disabled people of all ages.
A truly memorable and enjoyable day.
