– This certification is based on the flora and fauna of the golf courses of the Western Costa del Sol and its commitment to care for the environment, and Atalaya is the first golf course to receive this recognition.
The presentation was made at the recent International Tourism Fair (FITUR) held in Madrid by the president of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol and Acosol, Manuel Cardeña to the Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano.
In addition to congratulating the golf club, Cardeña wanted to highlight that the main objective of this award is to distinguish those courses that have suitable criteria and indicators for animal and plant welfare, as well as the distribution that respects life cycles, that provide or have areas for certain types of species, that their maintenance and exploitation activities are suitable for combining environmental and human welfare or those that have a wide diversity.
The Mayor praised the efforts made by the Atalaya golf course to achieve this environmental distinction, which corroborates its quality and its commitment to wellbeing.
